Evans Brothers — Ethiopia

Hey there, coffee family! I am beyond stoked to share this week’s feature with you. We’re heading to the high-altitude heaven of the Guji zone to visit our friends Ismel Hassen and his family at the Kayon Mountain Farm. This organic lot is a total "microlot" darling, grown between 1,900 and 2,200 meters where the thin air and sandy, clay loam soil force those heirloom cherries to develop some seriously dense sugars. This is a natural process stunner that underwent a meticulous 12 to 20-day slow tan on raised beds. The result? A cup that is vibrating with clarity. Expect a bouquet of jasmine on the nose that transitions into a vibrant, stone-fruit acidity reminiscent of ripe peach. The mouthfeel is where it really wins for me—it’s got this incredible syrupy, jammy weight that coats the palate, finishing with a playful, wine-like complexity and a lingering note of fresh raspberry.

Process: natural • Varietal: natural
