Rowster — Sumatra Aceh

Get your favorite mugs ready because this week we are thrilled to drop an absolute stunner from Rowster Coffee: their Sumatra Aceh. Sourced from the lush, high-altitude microclimates of the Aceh region—grown at a solid 1,200 to 1,600 MASL—this wet-hulled beauty is a dream come true for our dark roast devotees. If you’ve been hunting for a profoundly low-acid profile that doesn't compromise on terroir-driven complexity, this is your jam. The mouthfeel is remarkably heavy and syrupy, offering a rich, full-bodied tactile experience that coats the palate and lingers beautifully. It's the exact kind of dense, chewy cup that reminds us why we fell in love with Indonesian coffees in the first place.

The flavor profile opens with a bold punch of dark chocolate and that signature Sumatran smoky earthiness, which quickly yields to a surprising, jammy sweetness characterized by black cherry and dark berries. As the cup cools, you'll catch delicate, sweet undertones of vanilla that perfectly round out the roast development. To get the most uniform extraction and really highlight those heavy coffee oils, we highly recommend tossing this into a French Press or dialing it in on a classic Batch Brew. The full immersion of the French press will let those insoluble solids shine, pulling out the ultimate decadent morning cup. Happy brewing, friends!
